Experience
The school year 2016 - 2017 begins my fourteenth year at SMS.
Prior to coming to SMS, I was the Social Studies Specialist for the Alabama State Department of Education in Montgomery, AL. This was a very rewarding experience in teaching and working with educators across our state in the area of social studies and character education. Before working at the SDE, I taught grades 9-12 at Smiths Station High School. I have taught every grade 7-12.

Bio
War Eagle! I am a native of Calhoun County, Alabama (Anniston area). I am married to Cheryl Holley Graydon, formerly of Weaver, Alabama. Cheryl teaches 5th grade at the new Wacoochee Elementary School. We have two sons who are deceased, Forrest and Hunter. We have a daughter, Mary-Carol, who is twelve years old. She will be in the Seventh Grade at Smiths Station Junior High School this year.
My passion outside of the classroom is staying fit. I work on strength training several times weekly. I have written articles in several of the men's fitness magazines. In addition, I was part of the original Advisory Panel of Maximum Fitness for Men. I enjoy participating in bodybuilding competitions. I have placed in every event that I have entered. This has been a great accomplishment for me. In this next phase of my life, I will be working toward Physique Competitions.
I enjoy music and worship in my church. I enjoy growing flowers in my greenhouse and taking care of my lawn. In addition, I enjoy playing my baby grand piano at home. (I enjoy playing for weddings, funerals, etc.) I enjoy attending my church - Church of the Highlands. This church provides such a tremendous worshipful experience. If you are looking for a church to call home, let me invite you to Church of the Highlands. God is great and greatly to be praised!
